carl066I had the same problem. It turned out that the Intel Centrino Advanced N 2230 wireless card installed driver was either corrupted, obsolete and no longer worked with my ISP. I ran the troubleshooter, and it reported that the DNS gateway was not responding. I checked the driver version and it was 15.5.0.42. I then went online to the Dell drivers section, and the current driver was listed as 15.5.5.47 A02. I downloaded it, installed it, and now all is well.
Before doing this, I called Dell's "famous" customer service line and described my problem. The agent appeared to know what was happening. However, instead of recommending that I check for an up-to-date driver, he suggested that one of their technicians take over keyboard and mouse control of my computer to look for and solve the problem. I was willing to go that route until he said that my one-year warranty did not cover this type of support. I would have to pay over $100 for the 3-month service. Mine was a brand new machine, and could not access the Internet, right out of the box! Rediculous! So I went ahead and did my own troubleshooting.
Hi carl066,
I am having Windows 7 32-bit installed on my Dell N5520. The driver you have mentioned is "15.5.5.47 A02" but when I checked the Compatibility Section in Dell Drivers, this is compatible with Microsoft Windows 8 64-bit.
Will it work for Windows 7 32-bit ? If not, then where can we get latest driver for Windows 7 32-bit for this Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 2230 WiFi.
Regards,
