'Inspiron 1464' laptop is not tested to work with 'Windows 8'; therefore its 'Windows 8' compatible drivers are not listed on Dell Support Website. The steps that I've shared in my previous posts are a work-around and are not validated/tested. Yes, they've worked for some users; but for others, they haven't.
You may however try using the following 'driver' for 'Dell 365 Bluetooth Module' in 'Inspiron 1464': http://dell.to/VcXkjk
- Download the file 'R235168.exe' > Extract or unzip to C:\DELL\DRIVERS\R235168 (Note this path for reference) > Close the 'Window' after 'extraction' completes > Open the path: C:\dell\Drivers\R235168\Win64 (If Windows 8 64 bit is installed; if 32 bit 'Windows 8' is installed, open the folder: Win32) > Locate and right-click file 'Inst' > 'Run as an administrator' (Yes, if prompted) > Follow through with the installation as per the screen instructions and Finish the installation and check results.
If the issue persists, you may try installing 'Setup.exe' file in 'compatibility Mode': Navigate to C:\dell\Drivers\R235168\Win64 (If Windows 8 64 bit is installed; if 32 bit 'Windows 8' is installed, open the folder: Win32) > Right click ‘Setup’ file and click ‘Properties’ > Click 'Install in compatibility mode’ > Click on 'Application and select ‘Troubleshoot Compatibility’ > Next, click on ‘Troubleshoot Program’ > Click on Program worked in earlier versions of Windows > Click on ‘Windows 7’ > Click ‘Start the Program’ > Do not hit ‘Next’ until the installation completes Once the installation completes, click on ‘Next’ and check result.
