We have a Gigabit network with a PowerConnect 5524 switch. The server is a PowerEdge T310, running SBS 2011. Clients are mostly XPS 8300 machines. When I measure the network throughput using Iperf, it averages around 650 Gbit. Not bad, but I wonder if there are NIC / switch settings to improve the performance?
For example, the PowerEdge T310 sports a Broadcom BCM5716C network interface. When I check the advanced settings, I see things like 'Flow control', 'Interrupt moderation' etc. The Broadcom website more or less explains those advanced settings, but without recommendations as to when, why and how to set things.
Same for the switch. It has a lot of configurable settings, but as the Broadcom stuff, there are no recommendations on how to configure things.
