No Ethernet on Dell Inspiron 17R

Hi,

I have a new Dell Inspiron 17R 5720.  When I plug an Ethernet from my router to the laptop absolutely nothing happens.  It seems as if the Ethernet adapter on the laptop is not connected.  I've tried troubleshooting by going into "Control Panel, Network Connections".  The Ethernet icon says "Network Cable Unplugged, Realtex PCIe FE Family Controller". 

I've tried the same Ethernet connection with another Dell laptop and it works just fine.

Any ideas?  As I said, it seems as if the Ethernet adapter on my laptop is not hooked up at all.
