Hi,
I just came upon an old inspiron 6400 and i'm trying to get the wireless internet on it.

i believe there's a "card" (maybe, Sierra  wireless aircard 580) missing and that would be why i cannot connect. could someone enlighten me with this old computer?

here's what i got on a linux command line
doom@Zombimatic / $ sudo /usr/lib/linuxmint/mintWifi/mintWifi.py
[sudo] password for doom:

Rather than invoking init scripts through /etc/init.d, use the service(8)
utility, e.g. service smbd reload

Since the script you are attempting to invoke has been converted to an
Upstart job, you may also use the reload(8) utility, e.g. reload smbd
