just wondering if there is any substance to the ACER claims.  My friend has an ACER lappy with ACERs version of the Intel 2915ABG.  They claim the following;

 

Acer has reinforced its commitment to mobile users with the introduction of high performance wireless using SignalUp technology from Acer. A 2004 study conducted by independent authority RMIT IT Labs found that Acer SignalUp technology provided 25% increased wireless strength against wireless notebooks from Dell, HP/Compaq and Toshiba.*

“The Acer notebooks wireless LAN performance was clearly superior to the Intel Centrino based notebooks tested from Dell, HP and Toshiba.” said Steve Turvey, Manager, RMIT Test Lab. “The Acer TravelMate maintained connections at a significantly greater distance from the Access Point when compared to the other notebooks.”

 

I am just wondering if this is possible.  Do they have a modified intel 2915 ?  Can we install ACERs driver to get the 25% increase in performance ?
